Get Involved

SHA relies on neighbors contributing their time to make our neighborhood a better place. If you live, work, own a business, or otherwise care about Summit Hill, working with SHA is a great way to connect with other people who care about the neighborhood and create positive change. Whether it’s helping us build a new playground for Linwood Rec., improving Grand Avenue, or helping put together an event, you can make a difference by working with us.

Volunteer

Volunteering with SHA is a great place to start contributing to your neighborhood.

As a volunteer, you can work on just the projects that matter to you, for as little or as much time as you can spare. It’s the most flexible way to work with us!

Volunteering can mean anything from helping out for one day at an SHA event to a regular commitment on a project you’re passionate about.

You can volunteer for something specific from the list, or our staff can help find the right volunteering opportunity for you.

Serve on the SHA Board

Joining our board is a great way to level up your impact and help shape the future of Summit Hill!

Board members have a say in setting the direction of the organization as a whole.

Our President, Executive Committee, and staff work to support every board member as they take on their own projects.

Opportunities for board members include:

  • See your ideas for the neighborhood become reality

  • Help SHA take a position on some of the biggest issues facing our neighborhood and Saint Paul.

  • Work on multiple board projects

  • Help with communications, fundraising, and events.

  • Serve on our leadership team (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer).

As a Board Member, your main obligation is to attend our monthly board meeting (2nd Thursday of the month at 7:00pm, Linwood Recreation Center). This is where we’ll discuss and vote on various issues, and plan our work for the month. You’ll also be able to choose which board projects or committees you’re interested in. Board members will often be asked to help lead a project or work with a group of volunteers.

You and your group(s) might decide to meet virtually, over coffee, or work individually and sync up with the occasional call or email. It’s really up to each group to figure out what works best for them.
