Zoning and Land Use Meeting Notice

The next Summit Hill Association Zoning and Land Use Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 14 at 7 pm at the Linwood Rec Center.  There are two items that are currently on the agenda:

  • Travis Bistodeau, Deputy Director of the St. Paul Department of Safety and Inspections, will present information and answer questions on the topic of the proposed Temporary Family Health Care (TFHC) Dwelling Unit Ordinance Amendment, which the City of St. Paul has been working on in response to a bill which was passed at the state level last year that requires that local governments to allow a “mobile residential dwelling” to be used as TFHC dwelling units on residential properties with an existing principal dwelling, unless the local government “opts out” of the requirement.  According to Ricardo Cervantes, Director of the Department of Safety and Inspections in a memo to the mayor and City Council members, “these may include ‘tiny houses,’ small recreational vehicles less than 300 sq. ft. in size, or similar types of dwellings that can be used to house on-site caregivers or as transitional housing for seniors.”  Travis will also answer questions regarding a study which was done on the subject, and also the proposed ordinance to opt-out of the requirement.
  • La Cucaracha, a restaurant located at 36 S. Dale Street, is requesting a sound level variance and an outdoor extension of its liquor license for September 16th from noon to 5 pm.
