Environment & Beautification Committee
Committee Goal:
The SHA Environment Committee works to promote greater environmental awareness and increased citizen participation. The group meets every other month, projects are mainly volunteer-interest driven and have included: promoting recycling, composting & waste reduction; free workshops on rain gardens, rain barrels, home energy efficiency; greening projects along Grand Avenue; advocacy of alternative transportation (HourCar, biking, etc); assisting with the Annual Neighborhood Cleanup; and maintenance of the Sam Morgan Native Prairie & Linwood Raingarden. New ideas are welcome, this groups is a great way to meet neighbors and make a difference!

- Exploring Creation of a Summit Hill Community Garden at Linwood Park
- Work with Grand Avenue Business Association to promote reducing/recycling on Grand Avenue
- Planning quarterly public information sessions on environmental issues: i.e.: All About Plastics Workshop, etc.
- Promoting the successful expansion and regeneration of the Sam Morgan Prairie at Linwood Rec Center
