Pedestrian Safety &

Traffic Calming Committee

 

 

Committee Goal:Create plans for traffic calming and pedestrian safety on public streets, develop a method to implement plans and activities, work with other district councils to promote pedestrian safety and awareness. 

 

Meeting Location:

Meetings held on the third Tuesday of each month at the Linwood Community Center, 860 St. Clair Ave.

  • St. Paul Police Dept Q & A regarding traffic enforcement
  • Plans for raising pedestrian safety awareness
  • Continued discussion on street art for traffic calming

  • "20 is Plenty" speed signage in the neighborhood
  • Lexington & Grand Pedestrian Crossing Count Down Signals
  • Lexington Parkway Restripping
  • St. Clair Ave. Pedestrian Safety/Traffic Calming Study
  • Ayd Mill Road Design Policy Statement
  • "No Parking at Corner" signage installed
  • Overseeing the 2006 Street Rebuilding Project West of Victoria
  • Creating Pedestrian Bumpouts on St. Clair Ave.
  • Creating Lower Grand Crosswalk with signs & stripping  
  • Securing Linwood A+ School Crossing Stop Signs and Crosswalk Stripping 

Current Projects:
  • Greater Police Enforcement of Speed and Traffic Laws
  • Accessing funds from federal Safe Routes to Schools program

 

Ongoing Projects:
  • Greater Police Enforcement of Speed and Traffic Laws
  • Increasing pedestrian safety for students walking to and from neighborhood schools
