SHA Annual Neighborhood Cleanup
Saturday, May 10, 2008

Doing Our Part to Recycle and Reuse!

It is time once again to clean out your attic, garage, basement, closet, storage locker, shed or crawl space and engage in the annual tradition of spring cleaning!  The Summit Hill Association is proud to provide a valuable service to the residents of Summit Hill – the 2008 Neighborhood Cleanup.

The annual Summit Hill Neighborhood Cleanup will be held this year on Saturday, May 10th from 8 AM to 2 PM.  Residents can bring items such as bicycles, concrete, construction debris, scrap metal, fluorescent light bulbs, small electronics and reusable and broken household goods to the recycling center and cleanup site on Pleasant Avenue between the Ramsey County compost site and Victoria Street.  For a small $5 to $15 gate fee (depending on size of vehicle) you can properly dispose of your unwanted items in a manner that is beneficial to the environment!

Additional items such as tires and mattresses will be collected for $3 and $12 respectively.  Reusable household items (furniture, houseware, etc.) can be dropped off at the Reuse Area. Additional donations to help defray the costs of the cleanup will be welcomed.  Proof of residency (driver’s license or utility bill) in District 16 will be required for all drop offs.  A flyer will be sent to all Distict 16 residents in early April with full listing of what and what cannot be disposed of.

NOTE: The cleanup is a perfect opportunity to organize your block for an alley, boulevard, or park cleanup....and a great way to meet and get to know your neighbors!  We can help you print flyers for your block if you choose to plan a block cleanup event.

Volunteers needed that day

As in the past, we are looking for volunteers to help with sorting and monitoring the drop-off site.  It would be great to see some new people helping out those faithful volunteers who help year after year.  Volunteers will be rewarded with a free lunch and free disposal of one load of materials ....and of course, the opportunity to help our neighborhood do its part in recycling!

There are two shifts
: 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., and 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. To volunteer for one of these 3 and a half-hour shifts or for the full event, click here to leave your name and contact information.  Let us know which shift you prefer or if you want to help both shifts. If you need further information, include that in your comments or email SHA at summithill@visi.com or by phone at 651-222-1222.

Thanks!
